My story

I was born, raised and educated in Southern California, the proud son of hard-working, middle class parents who dedicated their lives to service. My mom is a nurse and educator and my step-father is a retired public high school teacher. From my family I learned the value of education, a strong work ethic, and the importance of giving back to the community.


After graduating from high school, I worked full-time as a bank teller and went to community college part-time. Committed to education and growth, I earned my associate's degree and transferred to UC Irvine.


That's what brought me to Orange County more than 15 years ago. While I studied at UCI, I worked at a credit union in Santa Ana. After earning my bachelor’s degree in English, I went on to earn a master’s degree in Management and Organizational Leadership from National University.

My professional career

My career spans more than 20 years in the financial services industry. Currently I am an Assistant Vice President at one of the world's most respected investment management firms. I am a leader in a department that administers retirement plans for small businesses across the country. I take my responsibilities as a steward of our clients' hard-earned retirement nest eggs seriously and I am proud of a professional record defined by respected leadership, creative problem solving, and a passion for continuous improvement.

My life in Santa Ana

In 2010, my husband and I bought our first home in the Heninger Park neighborhood. Over the last decade, I have planted roots in Santa Ana and I am proud to call it home. We were married inside the historic Old Orange County Courthouse. We've marched in the streets to fight for marriage equality and women's rights. We seek local options for shopping, dining and entertainment and we're always happy to introduce people to our dynamic and exciting city. In short, Santa Ana inspires me and I am proud and motivated to serve my community.

Giving back

At work, I am part of our Adopt-a-School committee, which partners with Heninger Elementary School, just blocks from my home. We organize volunteers to support students and teachers through a chess club, supply drives, reading improvement mentorships, financial literacy programs and more. We also allocate grant money to the school and host an interactive and educational field trip for junior high students. 


In 2015, I was appointed by Councilwoman Michele Martinez to the City of Santa Ana Personnel Board. Through my experience on this board, I gained insight into how our city operates. I have seen first-hand the contributions made by the dedicated public servants that comprise our city staff. I have also seen a need for the community to hold the city's highest levels of leadership accountable to results-focused and transparent performance standards. 


Because I'm passionate about our democratic process, it has been an honor to volunteer with the Orange County Registrar of Voters' office on past election days. I have served as both a Polling Place Inspector and an Election Day Coordinator, overseeing multiple election sites in Santa Ana and other Orange County cities. Helping members of my community exercise their right to vote is a responsibility that I take seriously. As an elected official, I will apply this same commitment to enfranchisement when weighing the decisions that come before the Council.

What I offer Santa Ana

I will bring my professional acumen, passion for service, and collaborative leadership style to City Hall. As a member of City Council, I will base decisions on my commitment to being a trustworthy steward of our city's assets and resources, ensuring that our citizens receive the high quality, efficient municipal services they deserve. I will support opportunities for sustainable growth that balance the need to welcome new and innovative businesses with the need to ensure that current and future generations of Santa Ana residents benefit from the city’s prosperity.
